WINTERS LOCATION

Situated along Interstate 505, commutes to and from Winters are easy.  Sacramento is about 38 minutes (31.2 miles) away, Davis is about 15 minutes away (11.5 miles), Vacaville is about 12 minutes (8.8 miles) away, Fairfield is just 21 minutes (19 miles) from town and San Francisco is roughly 1 hour and 14 minutes (69.0 mi) down Highway 80.

PARKS & RECREATION

Winters is filled with parks and surrounded by recreation. City park is just 1 mile away and Rotary Park in downtown is less than 1.5 miles away. Coming soon will be Three Oaks Park adjacent to Heartland. This brand new park was recently approved by the City of Winters and will feature turf playing fields, community gardens, multiple play areas, basketball court, bike trail and dog parks.

WINTERS EVENTS

Life in Winters is filled with events for any interest.

  • Each year, the Winters Chamber of Commerce hosts the Toast of Winters honoring citizens and businesses that have made significant contributions to the Winters community.
  • Yearly, on the last Saturday in September, Winters holds its Carnitas Festival, or Festival de la Comunidad – a Community Festival with a Carnitas Cook-off, lots of craft booths, art, live music and a children’s activity area.
  • Fourth Friday has become a Yolo County Mainstay, offering Main Street as a place to gather to celebrate local farm, local fork local music and local fun! The festival provides the community specialty vendors, a taste of Winters and the space to sit with friends and family to create memories in our Historic Downtown.
  • The Winters Earthquake Festival is a family event commemorating the rise of the City of Winters from a devastating earthquake in 1892. There is entertainment all evening, great food and street vendors, rocking music and dance and a general hullabaloo on Main Street.
  • Tractor Parade and Tree Lighting is A family event you won’t want to miss, this parade is unlike any other! Local farmers decorate their tractors in Holiday lights as they cruise down Main Street to kick off the Holidays in style!

LOCAL SCHOOLS

The Winters Joint Unified School District serves approximately 1550 students within the city of Winters and from the surrounding unincorporated areas of Yolo and Solano counties. The District schools include: Winters Elementary School (grades TK – 5), Winters Middle School (grades 6 – 8), Winters High School (grades 9 – 12), Wolfskill Continuation High School / Career Readiness Academy (grades 9 – 12), and the Winters State Preschool Center and Head Start Program.

The District employs approximately 200 employees and is the 2nd largest employer in Winters.

Students have access to excellent core academic programs which are enhanced by strong co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including visual/performing arts, athletics, agriculture, and student leadership opportunities.

The Winters community has a history of involvement in its schools, and the District welcomes parent involvement at all grade levels.
